As per reports, the injured students were admitted to Parjang Community Health Centre. The van was carrying 12 students of Barihapur Model School when the accident took place. However, the reason behind the accident could not be ascertained immediately.  

As per reports, the three students of Banadurga Anchalika Ucha Bidyalaya had gone to the local market to buy puja articles for Saraswati Puja celebrations at the school. They were returning to the school on a bike carrying the puja articles when an unidentified vehicle hit them from behind. 

As per initial reports, all the deceased were asleep when the incident occurred. The matter came to light on Saturday morning. All of them were rushed to a nursing home where the doctors declared them dead.

Farmer Biranchi Malick said, "A forest is there in our Karamul panchayat. Elephants, porcupines, boars, and jackals damage our crops. We farmers have adopted this mechanism to scare the animals away. Boars are a major menace. We fear to kill boars because of legal action. This system keeps these marauding animals away from our farmland.”
