Baba Chandrashekhar of Kapilash Temple in Dhenkanal didn't receive Bhoga/Prasad on Tuesday due to a staff shortage. Devotees expressed their anger over the delay and questioned the temple management, which acknowledged the issue and promised to seek alternative cooks.

Farmer Biranchi Malick said, "A forest is there in our Karamul panchayat. Elephants, porcupines, boars, and jackals damage our crops. We farmers have adopted this mechanism to scare the animals away. Boars are a major menace. We fear to kill boars because of legal action. This system keeps these marauding animals away from our farmland.”
The mother elephant and the calf were crossing the Dhenkanal-Kapilash road near Nagiapasi, but slid into the roadside trench. The animals were struggling to get out of the pit, but all in vain. Coming to know about the distressed animals, local residents immediately informed the forest department.
The trained elephants will also help forest officials in forest protection, cleaning tracks in forests, rescuing wild animals in danger, helping forest officials to tranquilize wild animals, and transporting seized items from smugglers and poachers in forested areas.
