A major burglary was reported on Wednesday from Kamakshanagar in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, where miscreants looted large quantity of gold, silver, and cash, triggering panic in the area.
The theft took place at the residence of Gopal Chandra Malla, situated near the Anantapur Ram Temple.
House Targeted During Owner’s Absence
According to reports, the incident occurred while Gopal Chandra Malla had travelled to Bhubaneswar for medical treatment.
Taking advantage of the house being vacant, the miscreants forcibly broke into the house. The burglars allegedly made away with around 700 grams of gold, 500 grams of silver, and cash amounting to Rs 1.5 lakh.
Miscreants Vandalised CCTV
CCTV cameras installed at the house captured the entire sequence of events. The footage reportedly shows three miscreants first vandalising the CCTV cameras and forcefully entering the house. The burglars gained entry by breaking a window of the puja room and carried out the theft.
Police Launches Investigation
Following the complaint, police personnel reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident. A sniffer dog has been pressed into service to trace the accused.
Police are examining the CCTV footage and collecting evidence from the scene.
The incident has triggered concern among local residents. Further investigation is underway to track down the burglars.
