A youth was allegedly stabbed over previous enmity on Friday night in Odisha's Dhenkanal district, sustaining a penetrating abdominal injury. He was later rescued by villagers and shifted to hospital, where he underwent treatment.
The victim has been identified as Chandan Mallick of Rodang village under Bhuban Police Station limits. According to reports, the incident occurred while he was returning home with household ration items. A group of youths allegedly attacked him with a sharp knife and sticks. The knife reportedly pierced through his abdomen.
He was found lying in a critical condition near Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya at Purusottampur. Some villagers rescued him and admitted him to the Bhuban Community Health Centre. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment.
Victim’s Statement And Police Complaint
As per reports, the victim stated, “We had gone to Bhuban as our employer had called us to collect salary. We were returning with household ration items when Dinabandhu’s elder son, Bablu, started following us from an eatery. After that, when we got out of the petrol pump, a few people from a vehicle got out and attacked us. They stabbed me in my abdomen and two other people attacked the one who was with me, but I do not know much about it.”
The victim’s father lodged a complaint at the police station, alleging that the attack was linked to previous enmity. However, the reason behind enmity was not established at the time of reporting.
