Odisha youth abducted, beaten up for standing up against eve-teasing on college girls

A youth was allegedly abducted and assaulted in Odisha's Bhadrak after he protested against a group of individuals accused of passing comments near a college in Jagannathpur on Thursday.

The incident reportedly began near a college at Jagannathpur in Bhadrak, where some youths were said to be passing comments. Deepak Dakua objected to the alleged behaviour. Following his protest, the youths initially fled from the spot.

Alleged Abduction And Assault

According to reports, the situation escalated later when 10 to 15 youths allegedly returned to Jagannathpur and forcibly took Deepak Dakua away in a car. He was subsequently assaulted and left in a bloodied condition near a Shani temple close to the Nathasahi petrol pump on the Bhadrak–Chandbali road.

Family members later rescued him and admitted him to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment. A complaint has been lodged at the Town Police Station in connection with the incident.

Victim’s Statement

Speaking about the incident, Deepak Dakua said, “I approached them and stopped their bikes to ask about passing comments on my sisters, but they attacked me. From there the argument started. After that, when I returned, 15 individuals came and forcibly put me in vehicle and thrashed me after that.”

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
