Himansu Shekhar Rout

Three school students were critically injured after they were allegedly hit by an unknown vehicle in the Mahabirod area of Dhenkanal district on Tuesday. The accident took place near Jarada Baghadian nullah.

As per reports, the three students of Banadurga Anchalika Ucha Bidyalaya had gone to the local market to buy puja articles for Saraswati Puja celebrations at the school.

They were returning to the school on a bike carrying the puja articles when an unidentified vehicle hit them from behind. All three fell along with the bike. They were grievously wounded. The injured students were identified as Himansu Mohant, Laxman Mohant and Prakash Delei of Class-IX. 

Local people rescued the injured students and rushed them to Kamakshyanagar hospital. As the condition worsened, they were shifted to SCB Medical College and  Hospital in Cuttack.

Headmaster of the school Narayan Mohant said that the three students fled the school by taking someone's bike a day before the puja. He denied the allegation that the students had been sent to buy puja articles.
