Khurda-Bolangir rail line in 3 years after Odisha allots land: Dharmendra

Bhubaneswar: The Khurda-Bolangir rail line project will be completed in three years if the Odisha government is able to provide the land this year, said Union Petroleum and Natural Gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan today.

There is discontent among people as only a stretch of 15 kilometre railway track from Bolangir side has been completed till date. Therefore, the State government should complete the land acquisition process and allot it for the project at the earliest, he added.

“As soon as the construction of the 15 kilometre rail line is completed, train services will be launched. The construction of the rest of the railway line under the project will be initiated by the railways as soon as the State government completes the land acquisition process,” said Pradhan.

Besides, the Union minister said that the government should allot land for the bypass project in Bolangir town and apprise the Central government about the same following which the work will be initiated soon.

“There is an urgent need of a bypass road in Bolangir. We had also put forth the Bolangir-Khurda railway line project among other demands following which the Union Minister had called representatives of Bolangir, Sonepur and Boudh districts for a discussion,” said a resident of Bolangir, Gopalji Panigrahi.
