It is the largest city of northern Odisha and the administrative headquarters of Balasore district bordering to West Bengal. It is the region which witnessed the first settlement of Britishers as early as 1634, followed by the Dutch and the Danes. Balasore is best known for Chandipur beach, integrated test range (ITR) is an Indian Defence laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Being a famous sea town of Odisha, sea food varieties are high in this district.

A live service wire near Tilottama’s home was broken and had fallen on an iron rod charging it with electricity. Tilottama got electrocuted when she touched the iron rod without knowing that it was charged with a broken service wire.

The statement from Shinde came when he visited the school premises which was used as a temporary morgue to store the bodies of victims of the triple train crash involving the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a goods train at Bahanaga Bazar Station in the district.
