Amidst the speculations over presence of some dead bodies in one bogie at Bahanaga railway station which witnessed a major train accident recently, the Railway officials on Friday revealed the exact reason behind the foul smell.

Aditya Kumar Chaudhary, CPRO, South Eastern Railway said, “There are no dead bodies. We had got site clearance from NDRF twice. Later, after we got complaints over foul smell, a search was again conducted along with state government team.

” According to Chaudhary, the problem was mainly due to eggs and there are no dead bodies at the site.

“Around 3 tonnes of eggs were loaded and being transported in Yeshwantpur-Howrah Express in the parcel van. All the eggs were rotting for which foul smell was coming. We have already removed the eggs in three tractors,” said Chaudhary.
