The District of Angul situated at the heart of Odisha was a part of Undivided Dhenkanal District till early March 1993. Angul District came into existence as a separate District on April 1, 1993. It is one of the major industrial towns in Western Odisha. This sleepy quaint vicinity transformed itself largely due to the presence of NALCO (National Aluminum Company) – that operates Asia’s largest Aluminum plant there and ancillary industries.
