Traffic movement was reportedly disrupted for hours on the Cuttack-Chandbali road during the visit of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to Kendrapara on Monday, as a result of which two ambulances carrying patients in critical conditions got stuck for an hour.

As per reports, a meeting of the Chief Minister was held at Barua. During the time, the Cuttack-Chandbali road was chock-a-bloc while a 108 ambulance and a private ambulance got stuck in a traffic jam. Three critical patients were being shifted in the two ambulances. Though the drivers and local people tried to give passage to the two ambulances, they failed in their attempts.

One of the drivers of the ambulance was seen shouting out of desperation, “Police are doing nothing to pave the way for the ambulance. If the ambulances get stuck like this and no one is worried what will happen to their lives.”

Local resident Sanjay Mallick, who was worried about the patients inside the ambulances lamented, “The administration is in slumber while traffic jam has made the life of patients and people miserable. For over an hour, two ambulances remained stuck. Two patients in serious condition were in an ambulance. After about one hour, the traffic dispersed and the ambulances moved."

Many have questioned why such a situation was created and emergency medical services were held up.

However, no response was received from the district administration.
