The BJP and the BJD have been lodging complaints with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) alleging violation of the model code of conduct.

The BJP on Thursday lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha, accusing BJD’s organisational general secretary Pranab Prakash Das, who is in the fray as the party’s Sambalpur Lok Sabha candidate, of distributing cash to avoid defeat.

A delegation of the BJP met the CEO and lodged a complaint against the ruling party. They alleged that the BJD is scared of losing the election, which is why it is donating sound systems to temples and distributing cricket kits and gifts among youths to avoid defeat.

Terming it as a clear case of violation of the model code of conduct, they demanded action and urged the CEO to stop attacks on BJP workers.

“The fear of losing the election has gripped the BJD in the Sambalpur Lok Sabha segment. This is why, BJD’s general secretary Bobby Babu(Pranab Prakash Das) who is in the fray, is doing many illegal things to win the election. Siddharth Saha and Samarjeet Patnaik are donating sound systems to temples and cricket kits and gifts to youths which is a violation of the model code of conduct,” said Urmila Mohapatra, spokesperson, BJP.
