A lot was expected from senior batsman Virat Kohli in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Kohli had performed brilliantly for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Fans were hopeful that the star batsman will replicate his IPL form in the marquee event.

However, Kohli has so far disappointed his fans with his dismal performance in the tournament so far. Despite India’s overall success in the tournament, Kohli has struggled managing only 29 runs at a disappointing average of 7.25.

In response, Team India batting coach Vikram Rathour admitted that he is concerned about Kohli’s lack of runs in the ongoing T20 World Cup. However, Rathour stated that it can be beneficial for players to face challenges at times.

“While I’m not entirely satisfied, I’d be delighted if Virat finds his rhythm and score runs. However, it’s often necessary to face challenges,” said Rathour.

“The players who don’t typically get much batting time in India were the ones who stepped up and delivered strong performances, and our middle-order rose to the occasion as well. Overall, it was satisfying to see,” he added.
