Lucky Indian driver wins Rs 44 crore lottery in UAE on New Year

An Indian driver living in the United Arab Emirates won a whopping Rs 44 crore (20 million) UAE Dirhams lottery in the Big Ticket Live draw on New Year’s Eve. Munavar Fairoos had an unbelievable start to the New Year.

Interestingly, at least thirty friends of Munavar had collected money and purchased the lottery ticket. If reports are to be believed, they will now equally split the winning prize with Munavar, a private driver in Al Ain.

According to Khaleej Times, Munavar has been a devoted Big Ticket client. He has been buying lottery tickets every month for the last five years. Luck also bestowed on him on New Year’s Eve. He is still in disbelief following the victory.

“I honestly did not expect this to happen, so I’m not sure yet,” Munavar said. He continued, “I’m still in disbelief and will need to consider my alternatives for a while.”

Similarly, another Indian identified as Suthesh Kumar Kumaresan won the lottery on December 31 and took home a million UAE Dirhams (Rs 22.66 lakh). Suthesh is an engineer for Etihad Airways and resides in Abu Dhabi.

On the other hand, ten other persons have won the lottery and received cash prizes totaling Rs 100,000 UAE Dirhams (Rs 22 lakh). The winners are from India, Palestine, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia.
