India reported 18,819 new Covid cases in a span of 24 hours, which is a considerable rise from the previous day's count of 14,506, taking the caseload to over one lakh-mark after a gap of four months, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Affairs.
Khordha reported the highest number of 60 new cases followed by Cuttack (32), Sundargarh (13), Subarnapur (8), and Puri (5).
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.35 per cent, almost equal to the weekly positivity rate, which was recorded at 3.36 per cent, according to the health ministry

The Daily Positivity rate has also reportedly risen to 4.32 per cent, while the Weekly Positivity Rate currently stands at 3.07 per cent.
As per the State Information and Public Relations Department, 11 out of total new cases are in the age group of 0-18 years. While 44 were quarantine cases, the remaining 29 are local contacts.
India has been witnessing an increase in coronavirus infections over the last couple of weeks.
India's daily positivity rate has also risen to 3.94 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate currently stands at 2.90 per cent.
As per the data shared by the State Information and Public Relations Department, a total of 53 new infections have been reported in the State, a rise of seven cases from yesterday's tally.
The Daily Positivity rate has come down to 2,55 per cent, the Weekly Positivity Rate currently stands at 2.67 per cent.
