With people getting complacent and throwing Covid-19 norms to the wind, Odisha witnessed an upward surge in the pandemic as the number of cases reached 73 in the last 24 hours.

As per the State Information and Public Relations Department, 11 out of total new cases are in the age group of 0-18 years. While 44 were quarantine cases, the remaining 29 are local contacts.

Khurda logged the highest number of 41 fresh infections, followed by Nuapada and Puri (6 each), Cuttack (4) and Sundargarh (3). Bolangir, Kendrapara and Sambalpur reported one case each while the State pool registered 10 cases.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the active cases in the State jumped to 354.

Odisha has so far registered 12,89,068 confirmed cases. The State has witnessed 9,126 deaths so far due to the pandemic. As many as 12,79,535 patients have recovered so far with 36 new recoveries in the last 24 hours. 

The cumulative test in the State stands at 31,99,6224.
