Odisha's active Covid-19 cases inch closer to 300-mark with 53 fresh cases

Odisha is witnessing a steady rise in the number of daily Covid-19 cases with over 50 fresh infections being detected across the State in the last 24 hours.

As per the data shared by the State Information and Public Relations Department, a total of 53 new infections have been reported in the State, a rise of seven cases from yesterday's tally.  

The department said five out of the total new cases are in the age group of 0-18 years. While 33 were quarantine cases, the remaining 20 are local contacts.

Khordha district registered highest 32 fresh infections followed by Cuttack (4), Puri (3), Sambalpur (2) and Jagatsinghpur (2). Balasore, Jharsuguda and Sundergarh reported one case each while the State pool reported 7 cases. 

With the detection of fresh infections, the active cases in the State climbed to 292.

Since the outbreak of Covid, Odisha has reported 12,88,950 confirmed cases. While the State witnessed 9,126 deaths due to the virus, 12,79,479 have recovered with 28 new recoveries in the last 24 hours. 

The cumulative test in the State stands at 3,19,70,167.
