On July 5, the State had registered 334 fresh daily Covid cases. Today, it recorded 1,043 new cases, registering a significant jump.
State Health Department Director Bijay Panigrahi today said the booster vaccination have been initiated at 2320 health centres across Odisha. Of the total, 19 centres are from Bhubaneswar alone.
With 609 infections, the bulk of cases have been reported from quarantine while the rest 434 are local transmission cases. As many as 100 cases have also been detected among 0-18-year-olds.

State Health and Family Welfare department Director Bijay Mohapatra today said that post Rath Yatra, Odisha may witness a surge in the number of Covid cases.
According to executive director of the WHO Health Emergencies Program, the recent increase in the number of newly reported Covid-19 cases has been largely driven by Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5, and by the lifting of public health and social measures.

As per the data shared by the I&PR department, the active Covid-19 case tally in the State now stands over 3,200. The infections are rising in Khordha, Cuttack, Rourkela and Puri.
