Malkangiri Encounter: Police buries 12 unclaimed bodies of Maoists

Malkangiri: Odisha Police on Sunday buried bodies of 12 unidentified Maoists who were killed in an encounter at Bhejing forest under Panasput gram panchayat in the district on October 24.

Besides, the police handed over 16 bodies of the ultras to their family members and returned two bodies to Andhra Pradesh police.

Muna, son of top Maoist leader RK, was also killed in the encounter and her mother had came to office of Malkangiri SP to receive her son’s body.

Notably, a joint operation carried out by the Andhra Pradesh’s elite anti-Maoist force Greyhound and Odisha Police killed 30 Maoists, including east division secretary Appa Rao alias Chalapathi, his wife and Maoist leader Aruna, the military head of the AOB zone, Gajarala Ashok alias Uday, the son of central committee member Ramakrishna alias RK identified as Munna.

Meanwhile, the banned CPI (Maoist) has called for bandh in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra on November 3 to protest against the Malkangiri encounter.
