IMD issues yellow warning for thunderstorm with light to moderate rain in Odisha

After reeling under intense spell of heatwave conditions, people in some parts of Odisha experienced thunderstorm activities on Wednesday.  The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for light to moderate rain and thunderstorms with lightning in several districts of the state.

As per the alert, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms with lightning are likely to occur in some parts of Khordha (Including Bhubaneswar city), Ganjam, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Kandhamal and Dhenkanal within the next three hours.

People are advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect from lightning strike, urged the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.

Earlier, Jharsuguda had recorded the highest maximum temperature of 41.3 degrees by 11:30 am today.
Apart from Jharsuguda, Bhubaneswar had recorded a maximum temperature of 41.2, Sambalpur 40.6 and Hirakud recorded 40.4 degrees by 11:30 am today.
