Though Odisha is still grappling with the havoc wreaked by incessant downpour just days back, more rain is expected during the coming weekend. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warning for over expected rainfall towards the end of this week.
As per latest weather reports, the cyclonic circulation over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of North Odisha-West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts is tilting south westwards.
Heavy rainfall might occur over North Odisha districts between September 19 and 20, owing to a possible low pressure forming in the Bay of Bengal (BoB). This information was given by the Director General (DG) of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mrutyunjay Mohapatra on Thursday (Sept 16).
Major rivers and their tributaries continued to swell due to the incessant rain since the last two days.
After the Bhubaneswar Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued Red and Orange Warnings over several districts of Odisha, almost all parts of the state experienced heavy rainfall on September 13.
Under the influence of the fresh low pressure, spells of rainfall is very likely to be witnessed in the coastal districts of the State from September 17, said IMD DG.

Moderate rain and thundershowers with one or two intense or heavy spells of rain is likely to affect some parts of districts of Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Khorda, including Bhubaneswar City, Cuttack, including Cuttack City and Kendrapara within the next three hours.
