The Low Pressure area over Central and adjoining North Bay of Bengal has become well-marked and lies over Northwest and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal, informed the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

“It is very likely to move north-westwards and concentrate into a depression over Northwest Bay of Bengal off north,” said the Met Centre.

Keeping this in view, the Met Centre has issued yellow warning for five coastal districts of the State.

Under its influence, moderate rain and thundershowers with one or two intense or heavy spells of rain is likely to affect some parts of districts of Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Khorda, including Bhubaneswar City, Cuttack, including Cuttack City and Kendrapara within the next three hours. 

Due to rainfall, water logging in low lying area, occasionally poor visibility and traffic disruption in urban area are likely to be witnessed, said the Met office.

The weather office also warned people to avoid movement in affected area and keep arrangements for drainage of excess water.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea along and off Odisha coast, North and West central Bay of Bengal from September 12 to 14.

Weather Forecast And Warning For Districts Of Odisha For Four Five Days:

Day 1 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 12.09.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 13.09.2021). Orange Warning (Be Prepared): 

Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak and Jajpur.

Impact & Action Suggested:

  • It may help ongoing agriculture activity however it may cause temporarily water logging in low lying areas.
  • Water logging in underpass road and occasional reduction of visibility causing traffic congestion in urban areas.
  • Keep arrangement for drainage of excess water.
  • Check traffic congestion before movement in affected areas.

Yellow Warning(To be updated)

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Balasore, Nayagarh, Angul, Boudh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bolangir and Mayurbhanj.

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 13.09.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 14.09.2021). Orange Warning (Be Prepared):

Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at a few places with extremely heavy at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Bolangir and Sonepur.

Impact & Action Suggested:

  • It may help ongoing agriculture activity however it may cause temporarily water logging in low lying areas.
  • Water logging in underpass road and occasional reduction of visibility causing traffic congestion in urban areas.
  • Possibility of some damage to informal/Kutcha road.
  • Keep arrangement for drainage of excess water.
  • Avoid movement in affected areas.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nuapada, Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Balasore and Kendrapara.

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 14.09.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 15.09.2021)

Yellow Warning(To be updated) Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Keonjhar.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 15.09.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 16.09.2021): NIL
