Of the 57 infected, swab samples of 21 students will be collected today and sent to Institute of Life Sciences in Bhubaneswar tomorrow for genome sequencing
Director Health Services Bijoy Mohapatra said on Thursday that these mild symptoms should not be overlooked as the variant of the virus could cause them to the ignorance of the infected.
After as many as 31 medical students tested positive for the Covid-19 infection on Tuesday (Nov 23), the Sambalpur District Administration declared several hostels and staff quarters at VIMSAR (Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research) in Burla as micro containment and buffer zones.
All the positive students, who were staying in VIMSAR hostels, have been admitted to the Covid hospital.
According to experts, there is no scientific evidence to prove that the impending third wave of coronavirus disease will have a detrimental effect on children.
