In a bid to inoculate a majority of population prior to the onset of a possible third wave of Covid pandemic, Odisha government is all set to commence the mass Covid vaccination drive on a campaign mode under the National Covid Vaccination Programme from today.

While Odisha is one of the few states which has been registering a higher vaccination rate compared to the national average, it is still far behind states like Rajasthan which has been able to vaccinate nearly 85 per cent of its citizens above 60 years of age, with at least one shot.

Indian Government has committed at 214 crore in the pipeline between August and December. Odisha needs 4.6 crore doses between June and December to fully vaccinate 18+years. As of now, the State has vaccinated over 82 lakh with one dose
