The PCC president said, "A roadshow will be conducted in Rourkela, from Rajgangpur to Sundargarh, Gadagaon and Uttara. He will have a night halt at Jharsuguda on February 7. The next morning, he will lead the Yatra to Belpahar, Hrudaynagar, and Kanaktara before entering Chhattisgarh."

A villager of Godua alleged, “Entry of elephants in our village is a routine affair. Four houses were demolished by an elephant. We demand immediate compensation for the loss.” The villagers alleged that the forest department is doing nothing to curb the elephant mayhem. 

A woman depositor lamented, “I deposited Rs 1 lakh, but only Rs 3000 is left in my account. Recently I deposited Rs 5000 in Sukanya Samridhi Yojana. A total of 1.02 lakh has been siphoned off from my account.”

Locals alleged that their wards were being sexually exploited in the hostel by the father of the school. On being informed, the district child protection officer lodged a police complaint in this regard.

The accused have been identified as Bisra government hospital pharmacist Sanat Kumar Mohanty, owner of a private nursing home Sanjay Kumar Panda, Mahavir Mahato, his brother, and prime accused Sanjit Mahato.

After a brief lull, a Maoist poster has been recovered in Sundagarh. The poster carries the name of Prem Kumar Jadav, Central Committee member of the People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI).

The girl was found on the road by locals following which they informed her family who then went to Badagaon to bring the child back home. She is said to be safe and uninjured.

Following the accident, tension prevailed at the site even as the injured were rushed to the district headquarters hospital. The condition of the injured undergoing treatment was stated to be critical. 

Local residents spotted the elephant inside the pit full of water. It was unsuccessfully struggling to come out. On being informed about the incident, the forest department immediately deployed an excavator at the site

Following a report by OTV on Thursday about how Teresa was on her way to the bank which was 30 kilometers away crawling to get her pension money, the block administration swung into action within hours and provided a tricycle to her. 

Even as the government has launched scores of schemes to help the ‘divyang’, all such programmes have failed to reach Tersa. A tricycle would help her live a dignified life in the area, Tersa said.

In the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, it was stated that she and her 4-year-old daughter were asleep in their house. Someone managed to break into the house at night and kidnapped the girl.

Locals caught hold of the accused after the crime and brutally thrashed him, it was learnt. The accused has been identified as Budheswar Singh. 

The mother-daughter duo aged about 27 and 45 was found walking naked on College Road, which is one of the busiest roads in Sundargarh town, on October 6.
