The crime has triggered widespread outrage in the country, with people demanding that the accused Aftab be hanged till death. Deceased Shraddha’s father has also demanded death penalty for Aftab.

According to Delhi police, Aftab Ameen Poonawalla and Shraddha were in a love relationship. However, Aftab strangled Shraddha to death after they had a fight on May 18 this year.

The horrific incident occurred at Durai Shib Bari village under Kamalpur police station in eastern Tripura's Dhalai district.

Bargarh Police have registered a murder case in connection with death of four members of a family at Jamdola village under Bheden block in Bargarh district. The police have identified the deceased as Seshadev Meher (55), Kshireswari Meher (48), Arabind Meher (28) and Shivani Meher (20), all members of a weaver family.

Tension ran high in Balianta area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Thursday after family members of a woman from Sareikela area of Jharkhand gheraoed the local police station alleging that she was murdered by her in-laws at Ranga Bazaar in Balianta.

The bereaved family members along with hundreds of villagers and members of Utkal Janai Sangha took out a rally today morning and marched towards the police station. After arriving at the police station, they staged a demonstration demanding action against the in-laws of the deceased.  

The deceased identified as Happy and his associate Dipak Behera were attacked by a group near Jaripada on Gobindpur road on Sunday.

The day of Diwali turned bloody in Odisha as two murders were reported from separate places on Monday.While one person was allegedly murdered in Puri, one was killed in Nayagarh district on Diwali night. Besides, another person was injured.

The deceased woman worked at a private nursing home. Her family members alleged that she was murdered.

A trial court sentenced him to life imprisonment in November 2017 for murdering his wife, and had appealed against his conviction in the Karnataka High Court.

Along with a 15-year-old resident of the nearby Chatzor Haglilit town, police have detained seven more youths, all aged between 13 and 15, the Times of Israel reported.

While police recovered the body of Bholanath from his house, bodies of his wife and children were found in a farmland in a pool of blood.

The top court asked a responsible officer from the department concerned to file an affidavit on the status of the matter by Thursday and scheduled the matter for further hearing on Friday.
