As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal around September 3. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form during the subsequent 48 hours.
"Currently, borderline positive Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) conditions are prevailing over the Indian Ocean. The latest forecasts from MMCFS and other global models indicate that the positive IOD conditions are likely to strengthen during the upcoming months," it added.
Besides, the IMD has also issued a warning for heavy rainfall in some parts of Odisha starting September 2, 2023. A yellow warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for some districts of the state till September 4.
As per IMD, several districts are also likely to experience thunderstorm activities as well.
Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar,Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal.
As per the IMD, light to moderate rainfall has occurred at several places in Odisha. There is a possibility of heavy rainfall in some parts of the state in the coming days.

As per IMD, the southwest monsoon has been subdued over Odisha. However, there is possibility of rainfall activities in the coming days.
As per IMD, subdued rainfall activity is likely over Central, West, and South India during the next seven days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted that light to moderate rainfall activities will continue in different parts of Odisha.
As per the IMD, the system is likely to move west-northwestwards across Jharkhand and weaken gradually into a Depression during next 12 hours and into a well-marked low pressure area during subsequent 24 hours.
The system is likely to move northwestwards and cross Bangladesh coast close to east of Khepupara by the evening of today. Thereafter, it is very likely to move west-northwestwards across Gangetic West Bengal during the subsequent 24 hours
In its advisory, the SRC has asked district Collectors Municipal Corporations, and other officials to remain alert, especially in the districts where Red, Orange, or Yellow warnings have been issued by the IMD.
It is pertinent to mention here that rain and drain water entered the houses of people living in several localities in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar yesterday and it is yet to be cleared even after 12 hours today.
