Seven days, no trace: Mystery deepens over missing Bhubaneswar lady constable
Concern continues to mount as traffic constable Shubhamita Sahu remains untraceable even after seven days of her disappearance. The case has sparked anxiety among citizens and anguish within her family, who are pressing for swift police action.
Shubhamita, a native of Paradip, was posted as a traffic constable in the state capital. She was last seen on September 6 in the Suryanagar area under the Capital Police Station limits. Following her disappearance, her family lodged a complaint, prompting police to begin an investigation.
Sources said the Capital Police has sought details from the traffic SI who prepared the shift chart, while the traffic IIC and ACP have also been informed about the matter.
To intensify the search, the Commissionerate Police has now released her photograph on social media platforms, appealing to the public for any leads. Authorities have also announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for anyone who can provide credible information regarding her whereabouts.
Shubhamita’s father personally met Twin City Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh on Friday, urging him to expedite efforts to trace his daughter. The family has expressed growing distress over the delay in progress, saying they are living in constant fear and uncertainty.

Despite the mounting pressure, the Commissionerate Police has not officially commented on the investigation so far. The lack of clarity has further fueled public speculation and anxiety.
