As per the forecast, some districts in Odisha will experience light to moderate rainfall from December 24; an alert for heavy rain has also been issued for other districts as well.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday informed that the well-marked low-pressure area lay centred over Southwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal.

It is likely to reach the southwest Bay of Bengal near the north Tamil Nadu & south Andhra Pradesh coasts on 24th December. The IMD has predicted enhanced rainfall activities in several parts of Odisha in the next 48 hours.

As per the forecast, some districts in Odisha will experience light to moderate rainfall from December 24; an alert for heavy rain has also been issued for other districts as well.

Weather Forecast

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 24.12.2024): Light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 24.12.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 25.12.2024): Light to moderate rain very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Khordha, Puri Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur and at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Boudh, Jajpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kandhamal , Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Koraput.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 25.12.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 26.12.2024): Light to moderate rain very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam.
