Irrespective to age, people wait all year long for rain showers and love getting drenched in the rain. But, the fury of cloud bursts certainly can’t be ignored. Cloudbursts cause extensive damage to life and property.
In its advisory, the SRC has asked district Collectors Municipal Corporations, and other officials to remain alert, especially in the districts where Red, Orange, or Yellow warnings have been issued by the IMD.
It is pertinent to mention here that rain and drain water entered the houses of people living in several localities in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar yesterday and it is yet to be cleared even after 12 hours today.
As per IMD, yesterday’s well-marked low pressure area over central parts of the north Bay of Bengal has concentrated into a depression. The system is about 160 km southeast of Khepura (Bangladesh) and 400 km east-southeast of Digha (West Bengal).Moreover, the system has intensified into deep depression today.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that enhanced rainfall activity will continue over west and parts of central India with very heavy rainfall over Konkan, Goa, ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat on Friday and significant reduction thereafter.

As per the IMD’s latest forecast, extremely heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the next two days and decrease thereafter.
Several parts of Odisha are likely to witness rainfall activities under the influence of the low pressure, the IMD predicted.

According to the regional center of the India Meteorological Department, Kirmira in Jharshuguda district received the highest amount of rainfall.
It is pertinent to mention here that several parts of Odisha witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall activities on Saturday. Even the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar reported acute waterlogging conditions yesterday.
An 'orange warning' for heavy rainfall has been issued for seven districts of the state today. The alert has been issued for the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur and Koraput.
