With the upper air cyclonic circulation over south Bangladesh and neighbourhood now lying over Gangetic west Bengal and neighbourhood, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted heavy rainfall activities in Odisha districts till July 31.
The IMD has issued a Yellow Warning in several districts for the next 48 hours.
In its midday bulletin, the IMD regional centre said, “Light to moderate rainfall has occurred at many places over the districts of Odisha, during the last 24 hours.”
For Tuesday (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 30.07.2025)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.
Yellow Warning: (Be Aware)- Heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Kalahandi, and Bolangir.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal.
For Wednesday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 30.07.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 31.07.2025)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha.
Yellow Warning: (Be Aware)- Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
Notably, Odisha districts will witness minimal rainfall activities after July 31.
