With a monsoon trough at mean sea level passing southeastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre on Sunday predicted heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning in several Odisha districts during next 5 days.
The IMD has issued Yellow Warning in these districts of the State till August 8.
In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “The highest maximum (day) temperature of 37.0°C was recorded yesterday at Nayagarh and the lowest minimum (night) temperature of 22.0°C was recorded at Phulbani and Nabarangpur in the plains of Odisha.”
For Sunday (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 04.08.2025)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of North Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha.
Yellow Warning: (Be Aware)- Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
For Monday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 04.08.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 05.08.2025)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of North Odisha, South Coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of South Interior Odisha.
Yellow Warning: (Be Aware)- Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Koraput.
