Science City Project
Plans to set up a state-of-the-art Science City in Bhubaneswar are moving forward, with Science and Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra personally reviewing existing models to ensure world-class standards.
The minister recently visited the Science City in Patna, where he interacted with officials and studied its infrastructure and design. Following the visit, Patra held detailed discussions with Bihar’s authorities. Very soon, a delegation of officials from Bihar is expected to visit Odisha to share their expertise and provide technical guidance for the upcoming project.
According to sources, the proposed Science City in Bhubaneswar will be developed on 100 acres of land. It aims to be a hub for scientific learning, research, and public engagement with science, offering modern facilities, interactive exhibits, and research-friendly infrastructure.

Minister Patra said the Patna visit was crucial in understanding the practical aspects of building such a large-scale science hub.
“A Science City will be constructed in Bhubaneswar. The Chief Minister has already granted 100 acres of land to us. I went to check the Science City project in progress at Patna. The work there is almost complete. The work that has been done there is very good. Hence, I held discussions with the concerned officials. I have also called for a meeting here, where we will seek some advice. We will construct a very good Science City here in Bhubaneswar,” minister Patra said.
With consultations and planning underway, the ambitious project is expected to boost scientific curiosity and innovation in Odisha, while also adding a major attraction to the capital city.
