The State government of Odisha has asked the authorities of all districts and municipal corporation bodies not to begin administration of Covid vaccines to pregnant women until the orientation programme for the exercise is completed.
The State Health Department of Odisha has requested the Centre to allocate the balance Covid vaccine doses under private hospitals share to the State government.
The State government of Odisha on Friday announced to introduce Covaxin for inoculation of people aged 18 years and above in the district of Ganjam. Manufactured by the Bharat Biotech will be soon rolled out for vaccinating people in Ganjam district including the Berhampur Municipal Corporation area from the month of July.
As many as 20 persons will be administered the Russian-manufacture vaccine on the first day and later the number will be increased, sources said adding that Care Hospital has procured 600 vaccine vials in the first phase.

In the line of the Union Health Ministry’s revised guidelines for Covid vaccination, Odisha government on Wednesday included Ration Card with photograph as another prescribed photo ID card for verification of beneficiary prior to vaccination.
"The Centre will provide vaccines to all states and UTs free of cost as already has been announced. Vaccines manufacturers in India will sell up to 75 per cent of their total stock to the Centre and the remaining 25 per cent, they can sell to the private healthcare centres."
In a letter to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Secretary, Odisha Additional Chief Secretary PK Mohapatra urged the former to revise the private vaccine allocation ratio of 75:25 to 95:5 ratio for the State.
The civic body made special arrangements to inoculate the beneficiaries including students who will be traveling to foreign countries to study, work and participate in sports events.
