The Odisha government on Thursday cancelled Covid-19 vaccination at private hospital from the State procured vaccine doses.

In a letter to all district collectors and commissioners of municipal corporations, the State Health department directed all the concerned officials to stop the supply of and withdraw the stock of vaccines from private hospital across the State immediately.

Earlier, the State government was supplying vaccines to private hospitals as part of an extension of  government CVC vaccination to ramp up the immunization drive in the State. The private hospitals were charging only service charges from the beneficiaries.

"The State government had approved to set up government-sponsored vaccination centres in private Hospitals as an extension of  government CVC vaccination of 18 to 44 year age group only from the State procured vaccines.  Now, under the revised COVIO-19 vaccination campaign, all vaccines will be supplied by the Government of India for vaccination of 18 years and above citizens," the notification read.

"In this context, you are requested to stop the supply of vaccines to private hospitals immediately and withdraw vaccine stock from them. If any private hospital is interested for providing vaccination to citizens, then it can procure vaccines directly from the Manufacturer under the revised guideline," the notification stated.
