Job and business opportunities continue to be extremely limited in Odisha. A career in UPSC civil services is held in admiration in the state. The real reason behind youths increasingly getting disinterested in IAS, IPS or IFS exams seems to be the growing inadequacy in academic field that has made it increasingly difficult for Odisha candidates to compete.
The Odisha government may re-cast its Civil Services Coaching scheme to better the prospects of entry of aspirants to the national and state bureaucracy. The State Higher Education department has flagged such a possibility in a letter to the Chief Resident Commissioner, government of Odisha.
It is also necessary to state that all candidates, who are recommended from the Reserve List, are placed en-bloc below the last recommended candidate in merit position in each category of the Main result of the examination, said the UPSC.
