Out of the candidates for 18 seats announced today, BJP has changed candidates in 6 Lok Sabha seats. The party has fielded new candidates in Kalahandi, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Berhampur, Mayurbhanj & Koraput.
To counter the two BJP stalwarts Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, the BJD is reportedly planning to field its organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das in Sambalpur and hockey legend Dillip Tirkey in Sundargarh.
Pradeep Panigrahi observed, “The Chief Minister himself has proved that good medical facilities are not available at government hospitals. The burning example is that when the CM is indisposed, why he prefers treatment at Medanta Hospital in New Delhi rather than the SCB hospital in Cuttack or the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.”
Meanwhile, reports suggest that actress Swara Bhasker is said to be one of the candidates that Congress is considering for the Mumbai North Central seat.
The BJP’s CEC is expected to give its stamp of approval to the names of candidates of some Lok Sabha seats in Odisha any time soon amid reports that a list of candidates for 100 Assembly seats and 16 LS seats has been prepared.
Not only the leaders but also the rank and file of the party are brimming with the confidence that they will form the government in Odisha.

The saffron party has finalised candidates for nearly 100 Assembly seats and 16 Lok Sabha seats. However, the saffron party is weighing political equations for the Lok Sabha seats of Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Kendrapara, sources said.
Amid the ongoing speculations over a possible BJP-BJD coalition, Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah said that the saffron party is yet to take a final call on the alliance.
The three parties are weighing the pros and cons of the candidates of three categories – youth, women and senior leaders -- apart from their winnability. All three parties have multiple ticket hopefuls in almost all Assembly seats, as per reports.
The party has prepared a list of candidates for 147 Assembly and 21 Lok Sabha seats and will send the same to the central committee for perusal at its end.
While saying that a decision is pending at the top leadership level, Amit Shah claimed that BJP will perform significantly better in Odisha.
