The Election Commission of India has initiated preparations for the 2024 elections in Odisha, but major parties like BJD, BJP, and Congress have not finalized candidates for several assembly seats. While BJD and BJP have partially announced their lists, Congress lags slightly behind.

BJP National Vice President and party’s Lok Sabha candidate for Kendrapara, Baijayant Panda met the bereaved families of lightning strike victims and expressed his deep condolences.

In the 2024 polls, there will be a direct contest with Naveen Patnaik in Odisha, said Amit Shah during an interview with a private news channel on Friday.

Under the leadership of BJP's Nayagarh Assembly constituency candidate Pratyusha Rajeshwari Singh, hundreds of party workers laid siege to the police station.

BJP's Kendrapara candidate Baijayant Panda is actively engaging party workers, focusing on converting support for PM Modi into votes. He emphasized relentless work and voter mobilization in Odisha, aiming to accelerate development and connect the state with national progress.

BJD leader Padmanabh Behera said, ”No guarantee will work here, except the Naveen guarantee. The Naveen guarantee will be effective and the BJD will perform better than the previous elections.”

The manifesto was presented by BJP's Manifesto Committee head and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and other top party leaders.

On Sunday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its election manifesto, known as 'Sankalp Patra'. The manifesto was released in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief J.P. Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and other leaders.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and party President JP Nadda were also present on the release of BJP's Sankalp Patra.

"We the people of Cuttack-Choudwar want BJP to come to power but we want the leadership to change the candidature here," said a BJP protestor.
