No-confidence motion will boomerang on Opposition: Odisha Minister Suresh Pujari
Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Thursday hit back strongly at the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Bhakta Das’ call for a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led state government.
Responding to Das’ appeal to bring such a motion in the Assembly, Pujari said the government would not be harmed by the move; instead, it would expose the opposition’s own failures.
The Opposition has every right to move a no-confidence motion, but they should do their homework before doing so, Pujari remarked.
“Let the BJD and Congress come with a report card of their 40 years of governance. We are ready to present our one-year performance. The people will then be able to judge the difference,” he added.
“There are two aspects of no-confidence motion. The Opposition would bring the motion and we will reply. They must prepare the questions. They can’t hear the answer,” Pujari said.
Pujari asserted that the motion would prove to be a boomerang for the opposition.
“Those whole got a chance to rule Odisha for 40 years are planning to bring the no confidence motion. We have just completed one year. We are ready to face it, but they should do the homework,” he said.
The statement came a day after OPCC president Bhakta Das invited the BJD to move a no-confidence motion, claiming that if the conch party is genuinely fighting for women's justice, they should bring the motion, and Congress would extend full support.
“If the conch party is genuinely fighting for women's justice, they should bring the motion, and Congress would extend full support. If they don’t, Congress will come up with the motion and they need to support us,” Das told on Wednesday.
