BMC official assault: OAS Association calls off protests after BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan’s surren
The Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) Association on Thursday evening announced the withdrawal of its ongoing agitation. This decision came shortly after the arrest of Jaga Pradhan, the alleged key conspirator in the attack on BMC Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo.
OAS Association President, in a statement to the media, confirmed the withdrawal of the protest and urged members to resume their duties. The OAS officers were on mass leave in response to the assault of Sahoo, who was dragged out of his office and attacked by a group of miscreants on Monday.
Due to the strike, administrative functions and public service delivery have been severely disrupted across Odisha, including Bhubaneswar. The officers had been demanding the arrest of BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan, who allegedly sent the group of miscreants to assault the OAS officer.
So far, six people have been arrested, including Jagannath Pradhan.
“The incident that occurred on June 30, five of them were arrested earlier. Today, another person was arrested. His name is Jagannath Pradhan. The arrest was made based on the FIR and statements of the victim. He surrendered before us and he was forwarded to court after his court,” informed Jagmohan Meena, DCP, Bhubaneswar.
