As per reports, the security forces were undertaking a combing operation in the Paikmal jungle when the Maoists fired shots at them ensuing a gun battle between them.

As per reports, these accidents took place in the evening. A student of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) and another youth died after their bike and a scooter had a collision in front of the university. Two others were critically injured in the accident.

Upset over this problem, scores of farmers staged protests and demanded immediate measures to stop the possible damage.

The locals alleged that in the absence of an all-weather road between Bhoipalli and Dhudipali panchayats, they have to commute on a forest track on a daily basis. The road passing through Bhoipalli, Kumbharuniposi, Budelkani, Bijaguda, Damagaon and Ladammal is in bad shape.

The shameful incident was reported from Kuchinda in Sambalpur district, where the society (Samaj) denied the body of a woman, Gomati Chhatria last respect because she was punished by the Samaj for going against the ‘rules’ and marrying off her daughters to grooms from other castes.

The Rairakhole police received intelligence inputs about ganja smuggling in an SUV. A team of police officials started chasing the SUV coming from the Kadaligad side. After a long chase, the two ganja traders managed to drive the vehicle into Bhima Bhoi Adikand Market complex and abandoned the vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Throwing an open challenge to police, unidentified miscreants opened fire at the owner of a jewellery shop at Dhanupalli Square in Sambalpur town before speeding away from the spot on a bike on Friday noon. 

As per reports, Bhoi was reportedly sleeping in his house at night when the elephant broke down the wall and trampled him to death. He died on the spot.

Liquor bottles, cigarette butts and some snacks were recovered near the spot. Dry grass was used to burn the body of the deceased, sources said.
