It is pertinent to mention here that earlier on November 11, two female Maoists were neutralised by security forces in Balangir’s Gandhamardhan Mountain. The Maoists had a bounty of Rs 4 lakh each and they hailed from Chhattisgarh. As many as five female cadres have been gunned down in the last three months.

The allegation of harassment by a senior police officer is not new for Kandhamal district. It is pertinent to mention here that the body of a woman sub-inspector, Swagatika Behera was recovered from her official quarters at G.Udaygiri in Kandhamal district on August 27.
