Woman sub-inspector found hanging inside official quarters in Odisha

In a shocking incident, the body of a woman sub-inspector was recovered from her official quarters at G.Udaygiri in Kandhamal district on Saturday.

The deceased sub-inspector has been identified as Swagatika Behera. She was posted at G.Udaygiri police station, nearly half years back.

As per reports, the body of Swagatika was found hanging from the official quarters where she was reportedly staying alone.

The exact reason behind Swagatika’s death is still unclear.

However, the deceased’s family members held the IIC of the police station responsible for her death. 

The deceased’s brother Manoranjan Behera said, “She had been complaining about the torture caused by the IIC madam. I had talked to her yesterday as well. During conversation, she said the IIC madam would kill her.”

Accusing the IIC of the police station, the deceased’s mother said, “Whenever we talked to each other, she would mention about how the IIC was torturing her.”

When contacted, Kandhamal SP Vinit Agrawal said, “We are conducting detailed investigation, taking all possible angles into account. Action would be taken as per the findings.”
