At a public meeting in Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi displayed respect by touching the feet of social activists Tula Behera and Padma Shri Purnamasi Jani. This act highlighted his reverence for 'Nari Shakti' and Indian tradition.
Amidst the ongoing tussle between BJP and BJD to grab power, PM Modi attended a series of public meetings at different locations in Odisha on Saturday. The public meetings were organised as part of party’s ‘Vijay Sankalp’samavesh for the 2024 elections in Odisha.
At a public rally in Kandhamal, PM Modi criticized Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik for his lack of familiarity with local districts and highlighted the Ratna Bhandar controversy, questioning the missing keys and transparency issues. Modi appealed to the electorate to give BJP a chance, promising development and greater connection with the Odia community.
Besides BJD, BJP and Congress have also attracted the ire of the Kui Samaj for fielding candidates from outside of the district.
The Soro MLA was denied a BJD ticket this time and the party fielded Madhav Dhada in his place. Parshuram sent his resignation to the BJD president, alleging, “…for the last one year or so, some intermediary executives misreported the facts and did not render due support. Despite that, I had been putting in my efforts with due sincerity.”

The STF officials received a tip-off about a deal of Rs 25 lakh for the leopard hide. They laid a trap. They conducted a raid in Sudrukama area and arrested the accused identified as Goutam Behera(55). The accused had reportedly struck a deal to sell the hide to a person for Rs 25 lakh.
The youth was staying at a relative’s house in Rajenai village of Kandhamal district and consumed poison on Monday. He was admitted to the district headquarters hospital at Phulbani where he died while undergoing treatment.
