Portrait of Swami Laxmanananda at Jalespata Ashram
In a visit to Kandhamal district, Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal declared on Thursday that Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati remains an ideal figure for India. Participating in a Tiranga Yatra, he asserted that the Swami’s supreme sacrifice would not go in vain.
According to sources, the BJP state chief visited Kandhamal on a day-long tour, where he paid tribute to Swami Laxmanananda and hailed the saint as an enduring role model for the nation. “His sacrifice will never be in vain,” said Samal during his participation in the massive Tiranga Yatra held in Baliguda town.
The visit began with Samal reaching Jalespata Sanskrit Kanyashram in Tumudibandh, the very place where Swamiji attained martyrdom. At the ashram, he offered his respects at the memorial site and interacted with the resident girl students.
The BJP chief also held discussions with the Ashram’s head, Swami Jeevan Muktananda Puri, reflecting on Swamiji’s contribution to the region and spiritual upliftment.
Later in the day, Samal joined a grand Tiranga Yatra in Baliguda, which witnessed significant public participation. He also took part in a party meeting where he encouraged local BJP workers to dedicate themselves to nation-building and uphold the values Swamiji stood for.
The BJP president’s remarks and activities aimed to reinforce the party’s cultural-nationalist stance and strengthen its presence in tribal and remote regions like Kandhamal.
“Swamiji was not only the source of inspiration in Phulbani or Kandhamal, not even Odisha, but also he was the source of inspiration in the entire country. He was an unparalleled saint who had sacrificed his youth as well as his life for the transformation of society. The Swamiji’s sacrifices will not go waste and will keep inspiring us,” the BJP chief said.
