Worth mentioning, earlier in another incident, two girls, studying in Class 9 and Class 8, were found to be pregnant on July 19 at two government-run residential schools in Kandhamal and Mayurbhanj districts, respectively.

Both girls were found pregnant after exhibiting suspicious behaviour during routine checkups and complaints of illness following their return from summer vacation.

Mayurbhanj case:

Upon initial questioning, the girl reportedly revealed that she had engaged in a consensual relationship with a minor boy from her village during her vacation.

Following this disclosure, the school authorities informed the girl’s mother, who had lodged an FIR at Bangiriposi police station. The accused boy was summoned for questioning.

Kandhamal case:

The case of pregnancy came to light when the hostel matron observed that the Class 9 student had not collected her sanitary napkins after summer vacation.

Suspecting irregularities, the school staff arranged a medical examination, which confirmed the pregnancy. The girl’s family was immediately contacted, and a formal complaint was filed at Tumudibandh police station by the school headmaster.
