After enthralling fans with his praiseworthy performance in Aamir Khan’s ‘Laapataa Ladies’, actress Pratibha Ranta has been receiving accolades for her role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi’. The stunning diva, who is seen as Sanjeeda Sheikh (Waheeda)’s daughter Shama, has done a tremendous job in the acting field, even if it is her first film with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali who is known for making grand sets.
Pratibha is seen as Shama, daughter of Waheeda, the younger sister of Mallika Jaan, played by Manisha Koirala.
“It is a nice, yet complex character, and I was able to see another version of myself through her because at times you experience things through your characters, that you may not experience in real life,” India Times quoted Pratibha.
The gorgeous beauty is magic on screen and can pierce through anyone’s heart with her awesome performance. Her role as an assertive, ambitious and intelligent bride Jaya aka Kusum was critically acclaimed in ‘Laapataa Ladies’. Pratibha has also done a tremendous job as Shama in Heeramandi too.
Talking about grabbing Heeramandi, Pratibha said, “I had just completed shooting for Laapataa Ladies and was deliberating about what lay ahead. It was then that Heeramandi offer came my way, and I auditioned for the character.”
“I had always wished to be a part of the grandeur and magic that Sanjay Leela Bhansali creates. Now that I have visited the sets of Heeramandi, my next goal is to play a lead in one of the projects of Sanjay Leela Bhansali,” she added.
