Age is not a bar to learn something new or get educated. While one and all are being encouraged to get literate, a 70-year-old MLA from Odisha’s Phulbani has set an example for many by appearing the annunal High School Certificate (HSC) examination on Friday.

As per reports, Phulbani MLA Angad Kanhar today appeared the first paper of the ongoing Matric exams conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE). Kanhar was seen along two of his friends appearing the English paper at Rujangi High School.

MLA Kanhar entered the exam hall like any other normal candidate after getting his admit card verified. Kanhar sat in the test along with his friends among which one is a Sarpanch.

“I was in my 10th class in 1978, but was not able to appear the exams for different family issues. Recently, I learned that many have appeared for exams even at the age of 50 and more. So, I decided to appear the board exams. There is no age barrier to appear for exams or to get educated,” said Kanhar.

Meanwhile, Archana Bas, Headmistress of Rujangi High School said, “We are conducting SIOS Exams at our centre which is open school exams. This special exam is conducted for those who had to leave their studies midway for any reason. As many as 63 students have appeared for SIOS exam at our centre including Phulbani MLA and Sarpanch.”
