People in the capital city also felt intense cold due to northerly wind throughout the day.

Talking to OTV, Dr Sarat Chandra Sahu, Director, Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, said the severe cold wave conditions will continue in the state for the next 48 hours while there will be no significant change in the weather till January 30.

He said the northerly wind blowing from the Himalayan region across Odisha and the clear weather conditions in the state have brought down the temperature significantly in almost all places in the state.

Reports from Kandhamal district said there was mild snowfall in the remote areas of the district like Daringbadi and G Udayagiri. People in these areas were seen basking in fire in groups.
