On Saturday Malkangiri Police claimed to have killed the Maoist commander who had masterminded the May 2013 ambush at Chhattisgarh’s Darbha Ghati area in which more than 30 people, including senior Congress leader Mahendra Karma, were killed.

Police said the Maoist was killed in a police encounter in the forests of the district.

Acting on specific intelligence reports, a team of Special Operation Group and District Voluntary Force launched a combing operation in Bhejaguda forest where they came face to face with the Maoists. They were killed after heavy exchange of fire between the two sides.”
